Systems for Generating Capabilities1
Systems refers to the assembly of all horizontal and
vertical processes across the organization that enable it to
implement its strategy.
One way to promote knowledge exchange is through communities
of practice.
A second knowledge exchange approach is knowledge network
mapping. This methodology and supporting technology
identifies and tracks the organization-wide exchange of
knowledge.
To fully leverage capability generation, any systems approach
must be based on a comprehensive knowledge architecture
that provides a blueprint for how knowledge can be accessed
and exchanged from anywhere.
Continuity planning is really
knowledge continuity management. Without knowledge
continuity, no organization can be termed a learning
organization, because no organization leaking knowledge
(through retirement, employee turnover etc.) can maintain
the essential knowledge base it needs to learn from its
mistakes and build on its successes. We have a unique
process for quickly identifying peer-evaluated expertise by
querying the organization through email, and generating
dynamic maps of subject matter experts. Following this, we
recommend an appropriate plan for action.
